Complete Olympus C3030Z Sessions

(September 2011 - May 2004)

I've stopped using the C3030Z in May of 2004. When I bought it in 2001, I didn't know a thing about photography, although I had always been very interested in it. I never thought of taking photography more seriously because I instinctively disliked film photography's archaic and inconvenient workflow. Around that time, digital cameras were starting to become more popular, and having seen how convenient and fast they were compared to film photography's workflow, I realized it was time to make the jump.

As I learned photography with the C3030Z, I realized my passion for taking photos went beyond a casual interest, and as I got more serious about photography, I outgrew the limited capabilities of the C3030Z (which was a consumer point&shoot camera, anc couldn't handle the kind of performance I was starting to demand from it). After a series of frustrations with trying to get the C3030Z to do things it was never designed to do, such as fast autofocus, snappy response, high ISO, creamy bokeh, etc, I gave up on it and upgraded to the Canon 1D Mark II.

I got my start in photography with the C3030Z, and will always remember it fondly as the first camera I carried around with me wherever I went. It was handed down to Elena, and then eventually given to a friend when Elena moved on to better cameras.
